Learning Drupal 6 Module Development

Author:
Matt Butcher
Publisher:
Packt Publishing

This book is written pretty much in tutorial form and shows the steps required for creating Drupal custom modules. It is good as a tool for learning but not necessarily the reference that module developers would use.

Drupal 6 Themes

Author:
Ric Shreves
Publisher:
Packt Publishing

This book  provides a very good run-through of the theming system in Drupal 6. It provides a range of examples on theming different elements of Drupal. However, it is not really a reference guide that you would pick up again and again.

Building Powerful and Robust Websites with Drupal 6

Packt Publishing

This book gives a pretty good overview over the Drupal framework. It is mainly useful for non-technical persons such as content managers and IT managers. The book runs through the main concepts of Drupal, but without any deep-diving into development of any code.

Pro Drupal Development 2nd Edition

Author:
John K. VanDyk
Publisher:
APress

This is the bible for Drupal development. As a matter of fact, of the different Drupal books we have read, this is the only one we come back to again and again. The book is really intended for those who want to do technical development around Drupal; probably not the best bet for the non-technical person who wants to find out how to use Drupal.
